Halsey is one of the biggest musicians in the world.

With two full length albums under her belt and another on the way, we wanted to take a moment to honor one of the best women in the game by shouting out five of her most badass moments- on and off stage.

1.Woman’s March Speech – January 2018

Halsey is a huge advocate for women and minorities, and in January of 2018 she took the stage at New York’s Women’s March to read a poem she wrote about the abuse she, as well as some of her close friends, have experienced. The poem made headlines everywhere, and remains one of the most powerful speeches given in the Time’s Up movement.

2. Suffering a Miscarriage- then Performing on StageOctober 2015

In her Time’s Up speech, Halsey mentions going on stage “that night in Chicago.” This was a reference to her 2015 Badlands Tour, on which the singer suffered a miscarriage after becoming pregnant while on tour. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, the singer confessed that despite being in pain and bleeding, she put on a diaper and took the stage to perform.

“It’s the angriest performance that I’ve ever done in my life,” she says, her voice breaking. “That was the moment of my life where I thought to myself, ‘I don’t feel like a fucking human being anymore.’ This thing, this music, Halsey, whatever it is that I’m doing, took precedence and priority over every decision that I made regarding this entire situation from the moment I found out until the moment it went wrong. I walked offstage and went into the parking lot and just started throwing up.”

4. Living with Endometriosis

In addition to advocating for sexual assault survivors, Halsey is also a huge advocate for endometriosis awareness- something the singer herself suffers with.

As mentioned above in her miscarriage story, the singer was diagnosed with endometriosis in late 2015/early 2016, after suffering with abdominal and period pain throughout her life.

Endometriosis occurs when bits of the tissue that lines the uterus (endometrium) grow on other pelvic organs, such as the ovaries or fallopian tubes. Outside the uterus, endometrial tissue thickens and bleeds, just as the normal endometrium does during the menstrual cycle.

As of now, no cure for endometriosis exists, but Halsey regularly advocates for fellow patients to speak out about their pain- despite the stigma to stay quiet.

4. Performing On Stage After Going Through Breakup – July 2018

While singing her song “Sorry,” in Michigan in early 2018, the pop star broke down while singing line ‘someone will love you,” causing hundreds of fans’ hearts to break.

The performance came just weeks after the singer went through a public breakup with rapper G-Eazy, who she had had a tumultuous on-again/off-again relationship with since early 2017.

However, Halsey’s tears did not end her performance, but instead she used fan’s cheering and singing along to help get her back on her feet and finish the song- giving one of the top and most emotional performances of her career.

5. Writing a Song about That Same Ex and Having it become #1 on BillboardOctober 2018

Released in October of 2018, “Without Me” was one of Halsey’s most open and honest songs- rumored (and later confirmed to be) about her ex-boyfriend G-Eazy.

After their very public breakup, Halsey turned her pain into a killer song about being used and it became her second solo song to hit #1 on several Billboard charts, including Mainstream 40, Adult Top 40, Billboard Hot 100. It also hit the #12 spot on Billboard’s Songs of the Decade chart.

And that’s five of the biggest reasons why we stan Halsey.
