While many artists shy away from being open about their political beliefs for fear of public backlash, 2020 has seen a surge in politically charged tracks and vocality surrounding the upcoming election and social movements that have taken over the United States.

Now, as we grow nearer to one of the most important elections in US history, hundreds of musicians are making their voices heard byway of social media or music to support the progressive movements aiming to change our world for the better. And a girl named jaen is not holding back.

From launching her career during the midst of the midterm elections in 2018 with “I Resist,” the “popternative” artist has been no stranger to socially conscious releases- and her latest single “We Are The Chorus,” is as charged as ever.

Inspired by the growing tensions throughout the world brought on by the growing awareness of police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement, jaen created “We Are The Chorus” as a “battle cry,” for those who have dedicated their time to fighting for change and peace.

By using a dark but catchy instrumental track overlaid by her unique vocals, the singer captivates listener’s while also hyping them up- using common BLM chants of “no justice, no peace,” to add a kick to her verses and remind listener’s that they aren’t alone in their fights for justice.

“I want this to inspire others the way I’ve been inspired, to get out there where you can, to never give up the fight for causes that we feel passionate about,” jaen shared. “And to realize that our voice matters and collectively is so powerful!”

In addition to verbally supporting a variety of socio political movements, a girl named jaen has also shared that a portion of all net streams of “We Are The Chorus” will be donated to organizations dedicated to environmental safety and making sure that everyone has the opportunity to vote and have their voice heard.
