On September 2nd, 2024 British pop punk band As It Is made emo history by announcing the end to their two year hiatus and a subsequent reunion via social media.
And this week- just a mere 4 months later- the band are once more breaking their realm of the internet by sharing the news that not only are they back together, but they’ve also re-recorded their debut album along with the help of some close friends.
Ten years after its initial release, ‘Never Happy, Ever After’ stands the test of time as one of the best releases to come out of the mid 2010s. Featuring the band’s best known track and Warped Tour staple “Dial Tones,” along with fan favorite’s “Cheap Shots & Setbacks,” “Sorry,” and “Concrete,” ‘Never Happy’ quickly gained international traction and rose the ranks as an emo anthem- giving fans songs to find themselves represented in as the band navigated mental health battles, discovering self worth, and the universal struggles of growing up.
Now, as the band have had a decade to explore these themes even further, both together- through the subsequent years of touring and writing new music- and on their own as they spent nearly two years apart, they are ready to revisit, and potentially reinvent the wheel with the release of the reimagined ‘Never Happy, Ever After X.”
Set to debut April 18th, ‘Never Happy, Ever After X’ will feature all original eleven tracks and thirteen guest musicians- including Sleeping With Siren’s Kellin Quinn, Yours Truly’s Mikaila Delgado, and Mallory Knox’s Mikey Chapman- as well as several other major names in the pop/punk, pop/rock scene.
And while April is a bit of a ways away, As It Is did release the reimagined “Dial Tones X” featuring vocalist Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence to kick off the new era and it does not disappoint.
You can stream the original ‘Never Happy, Ever After’ now to reacquaint yourself with the original masterpiece, and be sure to check out “Dial Tones X” featuring Lucas Woodland, and read the full list of new tracks below.
