If there is one thing As It Is shouldn’t be this week, it’s sorry.
Following last week’s announcement that the band would be reimagining their debut album Never Happy, Ever After with the help of some incredible vocalist friends, the group have released their reimagined single, “Sorry X” featuring Yours Truly’s Mikaila Delgado.
A track about unrequited love and how it feels to watch someone you care for falling for someone else, “Sorry X” stays true to the track’s initial interpretation but amplifies it.
Taking what was a dual vocal track and adding Delgado in as a third, adding her own flair and stylization- the song almost transforms from a one sided perspective into dual perspectives of the same situation. With As It Is’ Patty Walters and Ben Biss tackling one half of the story and Delgado adding almost a call and response element, the song plays along as a tragic love story that just wasn’t meant to be.
I’m just a reader.
You’re every chapter.
Never Happy, Ever After.
The second single to be released from Never Happy, Ever After X, which debuts in full April 18th, “Sorry X” follows the release of “Dial Tones X” which featured Holding Absence’s Lucas Woodland.
And while taking fans back to the beginning of As It Is through these releases has been quite a journey in itself, we can’t help but feel this is only the beginning of a wild As It Is ride that is yet to come.
