After rocking the alternative and rap music scenes earlier this week with the announcement of a co-headlining tour with Lil Wayne, blink-182 are once more making headlines with their new single “Blame It On My Youth.”

The song, which documents a rough upbringing, talks about the band’s struggles through growing up and how that has attributed to their current personalities and lifestyles.

As the band’s first single since their “California (Deluxe)” album in 2017, and the band’s first release since front man Mark Hoppus’ side project Simple Creatures began, many fans were eagerly anticipating the new release.

However, now that the song is officially out, it seems as though it fell short of many fan’s expectations. Mostly due to the new pop sound, which fans say is straying too far from the band’s punk roots.

Some fans even attributed the band’s new sound to the departure of Tom DeLonge, who left the band in 2015.

But, despite the negative reviews, the band has a lot of support coming from fans online.
