Boston Calling 2020 is officially cancelled.

Earlier this afternoon the yearly Massachusetts based music festival announced that they would be cancelling this year’s event as a result of COVID-19.

“After several weeks of consultation with local and state authorities, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Boston Calling 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic,” the festival shared in an email to fans.

“We are heartbroken; however, the health and safety of our audience, artists, partners, vendors, first responders and staff are of the utmost importance to us.”

This news comes a little over one week after two of the festival’s biggest acts- Rage Against The Machine and The 1975 announced the cancellation of their Spring tour dates.

Boston Calling is one of several music festivals that have pulled the plug following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States over the past month. Other festivals include Governor’s Ball and South by Southwest.
