After making their debut late last month, Philadelphia alternative rockers Bother None are back with a brand new single, titled “Blood.”

The second single to be released by the band, following “Pirouette (Mi Bailarín),” “Blood” features a calming mix of guitar and steady percussion to keep the track moving forward while ghostly but strong vocals take listener’s on a journey through their own minds as they navigate what the song means to them.

“To be honest, the true meaning of the song is kind of blurry, but for me, the song means the beginning of something,” drummer Rob Bulman shared. “We’ve all played in a bunch of bands before, but this seemed so different and stand-alone. It was instantly a favorite of mine and whenever I think of Bother None, I think of this song.”

“The feeling I get when I’m listening back is both sad and triumphant. Not sure how that makes sense, but to me it does.”

As for how the song came to be, it’s initial phases began prior to quarantine as Bother None was just beginning to turn into the band it is now.

“The process was rather simple from demo-ing to mixing because the song from the first time I heard it basically wrote itself,” Bulman said. “Blood was one of the first songs Brandon showed me. I remotely tracked the drums at my house and it was pretty cool because my dad and brother were in the room. After that, I sent it back to Brandon who sent it to Victor for bass.”

“Once it came time to record for real, we kind of found the same process. The only difference was that we were together this time. We actually wound up keeping the first take of the drums!”

“Blood,” along with “Pirouette (Mi Bailarín),” is part of a larger collection of songs the band has prepared to release over the coming months. And though the pandemic has changed their process of recording and mixing- they still plan to put out as many songs as they can in the near future.

“As far as mixing for the record, our plan kind of fell through. No one really planned on the “end of the world.” So instead of mixing together as a unit, we were once again remotely working. Vic and I are roommates so it was nice to be able to mix the drums and bass at one shot and send it to back to Brandon for the “final touches.”
