Bring Me The Horizon are taking a break from touring following news that frontman and lead singer Oli Sykes’ has ruptured a vocal cord.

Early yesterday afternoon the band broke the news to fans via their Instagram and Twitter that their Las Vegas show, scheduled for tonight had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

It was a little over an hour later that they posted a follow up message from Sykes, announcing that the rest of their American tour would be cancelled as well due to vocal cord damage.

“I am gutted to announce we have to cancel the remainder of our American tour,” the singer wrote.

“I really really hate letting you guys down, not to mention these shows have been literally the most fun ever- but at this point me singing would be the equivalent of a footballer running on a broken leg.”

Sykes also took to his personal Twitter account to share a second message to fans, letting them know just how sorry he was and promising that the band will be back to make it up to fans who’s shows were cancelled.

Prior to the announcement of it’s cancellation, Bring Me The Horizon were scheduled to play The Joint theater in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight. The show would have been the band’s final stop on their “First Love Tour” alongside Thrice and Fever 333, which started back in January and has gone from the east to the west coast of North America.

As of now, the band is still scheduled to play the second leg of their, starting March 23rd in South America. No words yet on whether or not these shows will also be cancelled due to Sykes’ injury.

Get well soon, Oli! We’re hoping you have a healthy and quick recovery.
