Ginger Pooley, former bassist for Smashing Pumpkins leads new band Burning Pools into a new era of rock.

Consisting of Ginger and Kristopher Pooley, and Max Bernstein, Burning Pools is a trailblazer ready to rock your core.  Each of the artists has a lengthy list of individual collaborations with many artists including Gwen Stefani, Jane’s Addiction, and Weezer.

A long-gestating initiative, Ginger, and husband Kristopher Pooley sought to deliver empowering lyrics through the filter of power-pop.  This newfound path led them to guitarist Max Bernstein, who swiftly incorporated some tracks with his signature sub-octave flair.  And with the formation of Burning Pools, a new voice to quell oppression enters the lyrical arena.

“Bang, Bang” was released on September 10th with a Bang, Bang on major streaming platform YouTube and the audio juggernaut, Spotify.  The accompanying music video invokes hard imagery that correlates with the message of value, bigotry, and misogyny.

The track’s guitar distortions, evocative percussions, and 70s inspired punk vocals help emphasize overvaluing monetary gain, and the societal devaluation of women and ethnic minorities.  A true examination of society’s value system, Ginger states, “it’s nothing for music to be a voice of criticism of our culture.  That is the purpose of a lot of art.  This is just my way of expressing my frustration with the priorities of modern society.”

And as the first single from Burning Pools upcoming EP, it’s clear we will need to prepare ourselves for a release packed with grit in the garage-rock collective.

If you are a fan of music that channels a voice for injustice, and delivers stellar rock harkening to a bygone era, I implore you to give “Bang Bang” a listen.
