Are you a fan of unique pop music? Are you in search of a new artist to listen to? Maybe a new EP to dive into or add to your weekend playlist? Well have no fear because Second Society has you covered.
Introducing Cassidy Louis and her brand new EP, “Technicolor.”
Released yesterday, “Technicolor” is the latest collection from the New Orleans based singer, and serves as a followup to her 2019 debut album “Crown.”
Featuring four new songs, including the previously released title track along with “Hideaway,” “Temple,” and “Stay,” “Technicolor” gives fans a look into Louis’ trials and tribulations when it comes to relationships.
Opening on “Technicolor,” the EP begins by documenting the feelings of falling in love with someone and the lighthearted happiness that comes with those feelings, setting listener’s up on a positive note.
But as the tracks go on, the lyrics take a turn, and begin to take listeners on a journey through the relationship as it begins to crumble. With the second track “Hideaway” questioning her partner’s intentions and wondering if they are planning to stick around for the long haul, and the third song “Temple,” beginning to showcase a darker side of the relationship, Louis begins to set up the idea that maybe things in this romance aren’t as bright and perfect as she thought in the beginning.
Audibly a darker and more mysterious track, “Temple” perfectly leads into the dreamy-synth filled final track “Stay,” which asks for her partner to provide any indication that the relationship will work or that they will learn to compromise before she decides to leave for good.
In addition to showcasing the singer’s storytelling and lyrical ability, each track of the EP gives listeners a bit more of a look into Louis’ range, both vocally and instrumentally, as no two songs sound identical.
And with the content of the release being something anyone currently dating can relate to, this EP is one you do not want to miss as it will provide you with music to turn to at every phase of your relationship- the good, the anxiety filled, and the ending.
