The pending rain didn’t stop fans from heading to Paradise Rock Club and lining up well before doors this past Monday night.
Decked out in waves of red, black and purple, nearly one thousand fans eagerly buzzed about their favorite Australian band: Chase Atlantic.
Waiting for the 7pm doors, fans of all ages discussed the show to come- paying little to no mind of the pending thunderstorm.
Then, when the time came, a rush of fans burst towards the door just as the skies open up and rain began to pour.
But, to these fans, that didn’t matter. All that mattered was getting a spot front and center against the barricade to see their favorite trio as up close as possible.
Soon the venue filled up, and around 8pm fans begin to cheer as opener Lauren Sanderson took the stage.
A singer songwriter from small town Indiana, Sanderson played a thirty minute set and helped get the crowd stay energetic before the headliners took the stage.
Kicking things off with tracks “The Only One,” and “Differently,” Sanderson’s relaxed vibe got the younger members of the crowd swaying and singing along.
“Don’t you ever say you can’t do something. I say this every time but if you have a crazy dream chase it. I had a crazy dream and now I’m here,” Sanderson told the crowd before performing her track all about making dreams come true “Written in the Stars.”
“I actually got on the tour by randomly messaging Christian and saying hey if you guys ever need an opener,” she told fans.
“And he replied “well actually mate we do!” and now here I am,” she laughed after imitating Chase Atlantic’s Christian Anthony’s accent.
Other tracks Sanderson played included “Electric,” “In the Middle,” and her new song “Hotel Room,” which is set for release in September.
“I just recently got pressured out of a really shitty record deal,” she announced before launching into her new track. “But I got out of it, and now I’m an independent artist.”
“This next song isn’t released, but it will be my first single as an independent artist! September 1st 2019.”
The crowd cheered and hollered as Sanders made her way off stage and the lights came back on for crew members to begin setting things up for the main act.
Entering following an epilepsy warning due to intense strobe lighting, Chase Atlantic were greeted with a thunderous applause.
A trio, made up of Anthony, and brothers Mitchel and Clinton Cave, the band was accompanied on stage by their touring bassist Pat Wilde and drummer Jesse Boyle.
Kicking things off with their tracks “ANGELS,” “WHAT U CALL THAT” and “HER,” the highly energetic band got fans off their feet and jumping around with just as much energy.
As lyrics splashed on the screen behind them, singer Mitchel was joined by a chorus of screaming fans in singing each song with intensity and passion.
It was clear that however small they may be now, Chase Atlantic is gong to blow up, and everyone in that room knew it.
Continuing on with older tracks “The Walls,” “Friends,” and “Swim,” the band appealed to older fans before launching into full “PHASES” mode with newer tracks “STUCKINMYBRAIN” and “LOVE IS (NOT) EASY.”
The “PHASES” Tour marks the bands second US Headlining Tour, the first being last fall alongside Cherry Pools and Riley.
Since the release of their sophomore album last month, Chase Atlantic have been making headlines all around the world. From covers of Rock Sound, interviews with Forbes and Billboard, they have gone from a small Aussie band to a household name.
And with nearly every date of their US tour selling out, including last night’s Boston show, it’s clear that their fan base has been growing as consistently as they have.
And nearly 1000 of their 42k fans were in attendance last night, and stayed as excited throughout the band’s nearly hour and a half long set as they were when they first arrived.
With saxophone solos, impressive lighting, and clear talent, Chase Atlantic stayed entertaining from start to finish.
Ending on their encore of their 2016 track “Okay,” the band left the stage and left fans wanting more.
Who knows what’s to come next for these Australian artists, but one thing is for sure. We’ll be keeping our eyes on them.
