Vancouver based musician Chin Injeti is aiming to help listeners be reminded of their worth with the release of his latest single “For the Love of Life.”
Released early February, “For the Love of Life” is an ode to loving yourself and choosing to actively remind yourself of your worth- regardless of what the world around you may tell you.
Specifically written to honor black women, who are often overlooked in modern feminist or self-love movements- the track encourages it’s listener’s to let themselves reclaim their names, stories, and lives without conceding to the people around them.
Featuring fellow Vancouver based vocalist Teon Gibbs, as well as Injeti’s son on a recurring piano theme, the track has a catchy R&B feel that will instantly lift your spirits and have you ready to fight off any insecurities.
“‘For The Love of Life’ paints the picture of how women of colour are mistreated in society,” Injeti shares. “Women are the vital backbone of the family unit. They are the givers of life… when we disrespect them, we disrespect life.”
“A significant lyric is teach them to say your name the right way. When I was young, no one even tried to say my name properly. With so much history and heritage attached to these names, one shouldn’t have to beg for that common courtesy.”
