Being lost in your own head can often be a frightening experience.
With anxiety, feelings of depression, and a tendency to overthink running rampant within our brains, it’s easy to find ourselves in a spiraling pattern of self doubt and insecurity. Especially in a year when we are not allowed to get the same level of social exposure as previous years- these feelings can become heightened and you may feel as though your mind is being “mean to you.”
But despite what your brain n may tell you in these situations, you are not alone- and you do not deserve the hate your own mind throws your way.
And if you don’t believe us that these feelings aren’t just yours- give Devin Kennedy and Caroline Kole’s new track a spin to provide you with a fresh reminder that you are not isolated in this experience and it can and will get better.
Released this morning, “Mean To Me” is a song all about internal reflection and realizing that sometimes you are your own worst enemy.
With honest and hard hitting lyrics about the battle against your inner demons, the track features a catchy electronic beat and perfectly showcases the vocals of both Devin Kennedy and Caroline Kole, who joined Kennedy on the track after meeting last year.
“Our paths crossed earlier last year and we knew we wanted to collaborate in some way,” Kole shared of their collaboration. “Though we couldn’t be in the same room together to record this, FaceTime closed the gap between LA and Nashville. [I’m] anxiously awaiting the day we can play it live in front of actual people.”
A track that inspires hope for change while also reminding all listeners that it’s okay to feel lost- “Mean to Me” is a song you don’t want to miss out on.
