Arabic influence and Western music collide in Felukah’s empowering track “What She Does.” Fittingly, the single was released on International Women’s Day and the video, directed by Felukah, celebrates women of black and brown ethnicity. It shows women working as entrepreneurs and artists making a life for themselves in New York City. The video perfectly complements the message in the song.
With hip-hop elements and a hypnotic melody, the track was produced by Mostafa Zaghloul and Isaac Sleator. The duo used reversed synth-samples and 808s to create a luring but catchy tune. The repeated hook is memorable and will have you either singing along or just bopping.
Felukah said that “the track is an ode to boss women everywhere.” So ladies, it’s still Women’s History month but let’s make it our month all year round!
