Pop duo Foley are having us feeling the summertime club vibes with the release of their new EP Vacation.

Debuted this past Friday, Vacation is the group’s sophomore release, following last year’s debut On My Conscience. Featuring five new tracks the EP gives listener’s a deeper understanding of Foley’s musicianship and sound.

Opening on the uptempo “Keep Me On My Toes,” listeners are immediately drawn in by the band’s infectious bass lines and catchy lyricism. Using a groovy rhythm that makes you want to dance as soon as the first verse kicks in, the track is the perfect opening to a fifteen minute journey into the world of Vacation- which flows perfectly into the second track “Anything Before You.”

Keeping a similar thick guitar presence and a pulsing percussion beat, “Anything Before You” is heavily pop-funk inspired. Telling the story of becoming infatuated with someone and the subsequent hold they have on your brain, the song is a fun examination of romantic relationships that allows room for listener interpretation.

The third track “Better Than Love” then transitions into an almost R&B styled softness, slowing down the energy and allowing for a moment of relaxation between the EP’s more upbeat tracks.

But this moment only lasts for a few minutes as the funky pop groove is then brought right back with “Rendezvous.”

A fun and flirty track, “Rendezvous” is all about imagining running away with a partner- a dream “vacation.” Painting the picture of an ideal beach trip or jet setting across the country this track makes us nostalgic for pre-pandemic travel and has us eagerly awaiting the summertime.

Closing on the softer “So Personal,” which shares the journey of wanting to get to know someone beyond a surface level relationship- Foley share a glimpse once more into navigating romantic relationships and the emotions that come with initiating more intimate relationships.

And though each of the five tracks on Vacation are different in tone and sonic profile- they create a cohesive narration on letting loose, having fun and falling in love.

“For us, ‘Vacation’ is us trying to be our best to our partners, friends, families, and a reminder to enjoy ourselves,” the duo share. “It’s us being confident in our creativity and aspiring to be better.”
