As guests lined the streets in the seaport district, awaiting the gates to open at the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion, the excitement was evident.

With the smell of the ocean and fried foods filling the air, the night was young with plenty in store.

And when the gates finally opened, and the ‘Glory Sound Prep Tour’ was fianlly under way, attendees were eager to get to their seats as quickly as possible- but not before hopping in line for merch along the way.

The first to take to the stage was the sibling pop-duo from New York City, “Lawrence”.

Walking out to a sea of roaring fans, Gracie Lawrence, and her brother Clyde Lawrence, along with their touring band didn’t waste any time- quickly jumping into their first song “Shot”.

With the crowd rapidly warming up to the energetic duo, the thousands of audience members sang along and danced to the rhythm of a few of their hits without hesitation.

Their setlist included their newest song “Casualty” which they had the pleasure of working on with Jon Bellion, and of course their most popular track “Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me?”

They also threw in a playful cover of “Get Busy” by Sean Paul.

Filled to the brim with talent, the duo deserved all of the praise they received from the crowd and much much “More” – the title of their final track of the night.

Following their final song and farewell praise, the crowd erupted into a cheer, making it clear that the next time Lawerence hit Boston, they’d recieve a warm welcome.

Next up to the stage was the exceptionally gifted individual all the way from San Francisco- Marc E Bassy.

Strutting his way into the arena, sporting a classy pair of shades, Bassy was ready to go.

Kicking things off with one of his hits “Plot Twist,” there wasn’t a single person in the pavilion that didn’t know the words.

Bassy’s eleven song setlist felt short but maybe that’s because we were enjoying ourselves way too much!

Playing some more of his top hits including “You & Me,” “Dirty Water,” “Love Her Too” as well as his most recent release “Die Hard,” everybody was in agreement that Marc E Bassy brought the heat.

But, as much as we would have loved to see more from both Bassy and Lawrence, it was safe to say that by the end of Bassy’s set- the crowd was primed and ready for Jon Bellion, and they couldn’t wait any longer.

His band taking the stage first, the horde of attendees from behind the barricade pushed as close as they possibly could, trying to patiently await his arrival to the stage.

As he rose like a king from his throne on the center of his platform, the lights panned to Bellion and the band broke into his first song of the night, “JT.”

The ground shook with an earthquake-like force as fans jumped up and down all over the venue, singing along, dancing and having the time of their lives.

Jon Bellion’s set was indescribable to say the least. Having performed mostly new tracks from “Glory Sound Prep,” such as “Lets Begin,” “Conversations With My Wife,” “Couples Retreat,” and “Stupid Deep” it didn’t stop him from playing some of the older material like the popular “All Time Low” and “Overwhelming.”

Stepping away from his music for brief moment, Bellion explained how he idolized Rage Against The Machine growing up and how their music was an outlet for him to express himself in a way he was unaccustomed to.

Using that outlet led him to where he is today and through embracing the emotions he fought with, he transcribed the messages from his tracks.

His speech was filled plenty of heart and appreciation for music as a whole as well as his fans.

As an ode to the band that was there for guidance, Bellion played the song “Cautionary Tales” from GSP before the lights went down and he walked off stage.

A thunderous applause echoed through the pavilion as Bellion’s short lived exit was halted and he quickly rushed back to the stage.

Before concluding his set he shared a special gift with his fans-announcing that one lucky person in the crowd would be flown out to New York to attend the premier of his new anime film.

Following the announcement the crowd erupted into a roar as he quickly shifted into hyping the fans up by saying “are you ready for ‘Good Things Fall Apart’?”

Fooling the crowd, he hysterically made a last minute switch by saying “Okay this one’s called ‘Woke The F*ck Up'” and then of course following the track, he played the highly popular product of collaboration with ILLENIUM, “Good Things Fall Apart.”

One thing was certain, this was far from the last time Boston would see Jon Bellion and company. A night filled with chaos, excitement and wonder, we won’t be able to wait patiently until he announces his return.
