Being vulnerable is never easy, especially when you find yourself putting up walls to protect your heart and battling an external persona that doesn’t always reflect what’s going on inside your head.

In singer/songwriter Kandle’s new single “Misty Morning,” the songstress explores this exact situation- where allowing herself to put her guard down invites in a new love that makes the world feel like a brand new and safer place.

An artist known for her cinematic music and beautifully unique yet nostalgic vocal styling, Kandle has been steadily releasing singles over the past few months as she prepares for her upcoming album Set The Fire. And though most of her releases feature storylines and engaging instrumentals- as seen in both her most recent singles “Lock and Load” and “Honey Trap,” this week’s single puts her vocals on full display and gives listeners a glimpse into the vulnerability behind the track’s lyrics.

Recounting her experience falling in love with someone who was willing to take the time to get to know the woman behind her on stage persona- “Misty Morning,” explores healing from past relationship missteps and soaking up the seemingly blissful stages of a new relationship- one where both parties are willing to get to know each other, beyond the masks we all put up at first.

Originally written on a napkin in an effort to remember and share these feelings, the song has become a soft ballad of appreciation for happiness and true love.

“Men often have this idea of me as a performer. They think I’m this sexy, powerful rocker girl. And then once I’ve become a vulnerable, flawed and real person, issues arise,” the singer shares. “’Misty Morning’ is about someone standing by me through the darkest times in my life and being shocked that they could love me through it.”

You can stream “Misty Morning,” out now wherever you stream music and stay tuned for more information about Set The Fire, coming this summer.
