Keegan Chambers isn’t about to let herself be silenced, and her new single “Look What You’ve Done” is a warning for anyone who may attempt to wrong her and the fury they will release.
A captivating, anthemic rock track, “Look What You’ve Done” gives fans a taste of both Chambers’ songwriting abilities and her impactful vintage-sounding vocals.
Feeling both nostalgic in tone and also so-2021 in the lyrics, the single is nothing if not a reclamation of power and a showcasing of the strength Chambers possess both musically and mentally- with a message that reminds us all she is not a woman to mess with.
As for the story behind the song’s message, Chambers penned the track as an outlet for the anger and pain she felt after a traumatic incident in which she was chased by a strange man in a truck and followed home shortly after the 2018 Toronto Van Attacks.
“I became obsessed with getting back at [the man] for the trauma he put me through,” Chambers shares. “He became the poster boy for every man who’d ever wronged me and I wanted revenge. I wanted answers. I wanted him to know how much his actions affected me and my life. I wanted him to feel as powerless as I did. But I couldn’t actually do any of that. So I wrote about it instead.”
And though the single is deeply personal to Chambers, the lyrics remain subtle enough that anyone with a similar vengeance or need to get out internal frustration or strife can relate and easily turn “Look What You’ve Done” into their own anthem of empowerment and reclamation.
