Indie punk band Lesibu Grand are providing us with some hope byway of their new single “Hot Glue Gun.”

Released earlier this month, the new single is the antithesis to their previously released single “We Fucking Suck (WFS)” which calls out the problems of our current government, channeling 80’s grunge and punk rock styles in a heavily politically charged track.

“Hot Glue Gun” harnesses the same punk rock styles that influenced their previous track. However, this politically charged track takes a more positive approach to the same situations presented in “We Fucking Suck” but offer a sense of hopefulness not found in the previous track.

Within the new track, a hot glue gun is used as a symbol in many facets. Firstly it represents the ethics of DIY as a reminder that we have the tools to succeed and fix our current situation. In this instance, we have the tools to fix our government, because as part of the ethics of democracy the people have the voice and have the power to make change. In turn, the hot glue gun becomes the symbol for political and social rebirth.

The music video for “Hot Glue Gun” takes form in a 90’s video game style, in which front-person Tyler-Simone plays a freedom fighter tasked to take down and reboot a corrupt society built on wealth and privilege. Within the video their weapon that he uses to fight the elite glass is a hot glue gun.

Both the single and the video offer hope for a solution to our current government situation and a reminder of the people’s power to create and make change.
