You may not know her by name, but Leslie Mosier is constantly on your social media feed.
If you’ve ever seen or followed Doug The Pug or Fiona the Feline, then you know Mosier as their human mom. And while she rarely appears in photos across their profiles, Mosier is always there- just usually behind the camera as the creative force- alongside her husband Rob Chianelli- driving their brands.
But before Mosier was the matriarch of her fur family, she was a graphic designer and marketing guru at Nashville’s Aware Records.
And yesterday, Mosier took a step away from her pet empire and went back to her music roots and in front of the camera as she released her first single “Get Better.”
“Get Better,” which is Mosier’s first dive back into music in nearly ten years, is a song dedicated to her battle with chronic pain. Specifically, endometriosis.
Just last year Mosier opened up to her Instagram followers about her struggles with chronic pain, including her battle with the autoimmune disease Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
It was around this time that she also began to open up about her cramping and the intense pain that came every time she was getting closer to her period.
After a few weeks and many doctor’s visits, Mosier decided to go in for surgery to find out what was causing her intense pain, and it turned out to be endometriosis- a disorder where tissue that normally grows inside of the uterus begins to grow outside of the uterus. This results in intense pain, cramping, nausea, excessive bleeding, and can cause infertility.
“You have to be your own advocate and fight for what you think is happening,” Mosier told her Instagram followers in November. “Going into surgery blind was terrifying, but I’m so glad I did.”
Now, in order to bring awareness to endometriosis and chronic illness, Mosier has released her new single, alongside an emotional music video that shows just how endometriosis and chronic pain can affect one’s day to day life.
And all proceeds from downloads of her track will be donated to endometriosis foundations.
