Mayday Parade are here to save 2020 with some new music.
After a few days of teasing us with some sort of announcement, the Florida natives have just announced a brand new EP titled Out of Here, which will be released October 16th.
Coupled with the cautionary label of “the is an emotional advisory for the tender,” the EP is sure to be full of deep cutting lyrics, pop punk inspired riffs, and overall be classically Mayday Parade emo- something we can always look forward to.
But this EP wasn’t the only thing the band had up their sleeves this week.
In addition to the EP announcement the band also released a brand new single titled “Lighten Up Kid,” which marks their first release since March’s “It Is What It Is.”
A catchy pop rock track about breaking free from a toxic environment, “Lighten Up Kid” is a perfect reminder to try and keep your head above water despite the tumultuous year we have all been living in.
“‘Lighten Up Kid’ is about trying to find yourself and the strength to keep fighting for what you believe in,” drummer and vocalist Jake Bundrick shared. “It’s about being or feeling cut down and hung out to dry but standing up for yourself in the end.”
And with lyrics that are sure to get stuck in your head as you hit repeat for the tenth time, “Lighten Up Kid” is quickly becoming our most listened to song of the week and gives us high hopes for what the rest of Out of Here will sound like.
You can stream “Lighten Up Kid,” now wherever you stream music, and be sure to stay tuned for Out of Here, out October 16.
