Since their debut in 2005, Mayday Parade have grown to become a household name within the alternative music scene.
From their first full length album “A Lesson in Romantics,” to their most recent “Sunnyland,” the band has become a staple for anyone looking to listen to a fusion of classic emo and pop-rock.
And though Mayday Parade are still going strong, with their most recent single “It Is What It Is” dropping earlier this year, that has not stopped the band’s members from experimenting with new sounds and new projects on the side.
Which is what brings us here today, as drummer Jake Bundrick has stepped out on the side for his brand new new solo project: Via Fiori.
After teasing the release of Via Fiori towards the end of last month, Bundrick’s followers began buzzing with questions about what the new project would sound like. Would it take an acoustic turn? Would it be heavier rock to show emphasis on his drumming? Would it sound like Mayday Parade?
But luckily for everyone, the questions came to a halt on April 10th when Via Fiori’s debut single “Call to Arms,” dropped.
A perfect representation of pop-rock, “A Call To Arms,” is the ideal first single for anyone coming out of a successful band.
With a very catchy chorus, clean vocals, and a killer guitar track, the song is easily one of our favorite releases of the year. (And obviously the drums are on par, too.)
And if “A Call To Arms” wasn’t enough, just seven days later, Bundrick released the project’s second single “I Need This More.”
Another pop-rock track, “I Need This More,” is also about a relationship coming to an end on relatively rocky terms.
Slightly heavier than the previous release, the second single shares similar attributes, with more prominent percussion and instrumentals.
And while both singles are very Mayday-adjacent, with similar genre styling and vocals, they are not Mayday Parade- they are Via Fiori. And we love it.
You can stream both Via Fiori tracks now wherever you stream music, and be sure to follow both Bundrick and Via Fiori on Twitter for all of the latest updates on the band.
