New music Friday surely came in swinging this week!

With new tracks from PVRIS, You Me At Six, WhoHurtYou, Taylor Swift and more, Second Society Report has decided that the best way to share all of our new faves with you was to make one master post of all new New Music Friday releases- along with little blurbs sharing our thoughts and some fun facts about each track.

So let’s dive in!

You Me At Six – “What’s It Like”

You Me At Six’s first release since 2018’s “VI,” “What’s It Like” is an entirely new rendition of the You Me At Six we all know and love.

An electronic-pop track, “What’s It Like” strays away from “VI”‘s 80s rock vibe, and goes back to the band’s alternative roots.

One of our favorite things about You Me At Six is that every release is entirely different from the last, but they manage to kill it each time. We can’t wait to hear more new music!

PVRIS- “Hallucinations”

When PVRIS hit the scene in early 2012, they were immediately grouped into the genres of “alternative” and “alt-rock.” Ending up on Warped Tour, and opening for bands like Pierce the Veil, the band was set on an alternative path.

Until now.

“Hallucinations” is the band’s second pop release this summer, following “Death of Me” just last month. And while some fans may be surprised by the change in genre, PVRIS don’t believe they should be.

In an interview with Alt Press, front woman Lynn Gunn shared her belief that PVRIS has always been a pop band, and that this was finally them getting a chance to showcase it.

We for one are definitely excited too see what’s next. “Hallucinations” is a banger.

WhoHurtYou- “Nobody Wins”

The second release from the super duo WhoHurtYou (made up of Jack Barakat and Kevin Fisher) “Nobody Wins” is the breakup anthem for anyone who has ever broken off a relationship and felt regret afterwards.

Barakat himself also shared a personal anecdote on twitter reminding fans that no matter how a relationship ends, nobody actually wins.

We have a feeling this will become the breakup anthem of 2019.

Taylor Swift- “Lover”

Now for the wedding anthem of 2019.

A definite change from the normal Second Society Report coverage, Taylor Swift has made her way onto our radar after the release of her tracks “ME!” featuring our favorite superstar, Brendon Urie, and her star studded “You Need To Calm Down.”

And now, once again with “Lover.”

The title track from her upcoming album, “Lover” is all about a relationship going right, and the warm fuzzy feelings that come from being in love.

This track also comes with a bit of conspiracy, as the lyrics about getting married are causing many fans to speculate that Swift has secretly wed her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

While we are unsure about the marriage, we definitely expect this song to end up in wedding videos for the next decade.

FLETCHER- “You Ruined New York City For Me” (EP)

You may remember FLETCHER from her popular hit “Undrunk.”

Or maybe you’ve seen her on our site after we covered her new music and show in Boston this past May.

Or maybe you have’t heard of her yet, but want a great new EP and young artist to listen to.

If any of the above apply to you, we have good news. FLETCHER has just released her latest and greatest EP to date!

Featuring the previously released “Undrunk” and “If You’re Gonna Lie,” “You Ruined New York For Me,” includes three new tracks, including “All Love,” “About You” and “Strangers.”

The entire EP documents all aspects of a relationship as it begins to break down- including infidelity, breakups, and the aftermath of having places, songs and things ruined after a split.

Much like WhoHurtYou’s new song, we expect this entire EP to end up on breakup playlists all year.
