Today is a sad day for fans of Texas pop-punk band Oh, Weatherly.
The band has officially broken up.
Earlier this afternoon, former singer Blake Roses took to the band’s twitter account to announce his departure.
“If you know me personally, you probably know that my heart has not been in Oh, Weatherly for a long time. I haven’t been happy and I feel like I’m living in a box,” Roses wrote.
While many fans speculated that Roses departure would mean nothing but a search for a new singer, guitarist Reese Alan later confirmed on his own social media accounts that they would not be searching for a new frontman.
Alan later posted his own statement, sharing that the band was on an “indefinite hiatus.”
“I’m very very heartbroken to say Oh, Weatherly is on an indefinite hiatus. My favorite memories were with this band, and both the guys and all of you pulled me out of some dark places,” Alan wrote. “That being said, there is zero bad blood between any of us. This was purely a decision made out of concern for mental health.”
Drummer Colton Lakey also joined in with his own statement, calling Oh, Weatherly a “dream come true,” and thanking fans for supporting them.
No statements have been made by members Angel or Beau, but in an effort to diffuse some of the sadness being felt by fans, Alan did take some time to also crack jokes about the band’s split.
