Panic! At The Disco has had a lot to celebrate this month.
In addition to being in the midst of the European leg of the Pray for the Wicked Tour, receiving two iHeart Radio Music Awards, and releasing a new music video for “Dancing’s Not A Crime,” the band has also been granted Platinum status on not one, but FOUR of their albums.
On March 15th, the band’s four albums “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,” “Pretty. Odd.,” “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die,” and “Death of a Bachelor,” were certified Platinum by the Recording Industry of America, sending joy through the Panic! fandom.
But not everyone was thrilled about the news. Including the band’s former drummer Spencer Smith- who made a bet with the band’s security manager Zack Hall about the fate of Pretty. Odd.
In addition to having four newly certified platinum albums, Panic! At The Disco also celebrated the 11th anniversary of one such album: “Pretty. Odd.”
Released March 25, 2008, “Pretty. Odd.” was the band’s second album, and the last to feature the original lineup of Spencer Smith, Ryan Ross, Jon Walker, and Brendon Urie.
With hit songs “Nine in the Afternoon,” “That Green Gentleman,” and “Northern Downpour,” “Pretty. Odd.” shook up Panic’s fan’s expectations after drastically changing their sound from the previous “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.”
But, despite the change in sound and aesthetic, “Pretty. Odd.” quickly became a fandom favorite, amassing over one million album sales since its release.
And while no members officially acknowledged the album’s anniversary, Walker took to Twitter to remind fans of some lyrics to the album’s opening track.
Now the question is- since Pretty Odd is eleven years old and certified platinum, will Panic! At The Disco will start playing it on tour?
We aren’t so sure, but we are certainly happy for it’s success.
