Introducing France’s best kept secret: Reaven.

A four piece band made up of vocalist/guitarist Romeo, drummer Vince, keyboardist

François, and bassist Rudy, Reaven find inspiration in all things pop and rock but flip the script with their inclusion of electronic elements to take their songs to the next level.

From releasing their self titled debut EP in 2017 and their 2018 full length release Unbreakable, the band have continued on streamlining their sound with a stream of single releases over the past year. And with their May single “Escape” being the result of some hustling during the height of the global pandemic, the band have shown fans that they aren’t going to let any setbacks stop them from pushing forward with their goals.

Now with their upcoming album For Tomorrow approaching the horizon, the band is preparing to hopefully launch into 2021 with new music, a few fantastic tours, and eager to reconnect with their fans.

We had the chance to chat with Romeo to find out a bit more on how the band is spending 2020 and what they are doing to stay busy during this insane year.

You can read our full interview below, and be sure to check out Reaven’s newest single “Escape,” out now.

Second Society Report: How are you holding up during this insane year that is 2020? Hopefully your friends and families are staying safe and healthy!

Romeo: We try to focus as much as we can on good things. Create more in studio, try to explore new paths to send our music to the world. And always keep on working, practicing… Hopefully everyone around us is safe and healthy! We hope that you too!”

Did you have any big releases or tours that were put on hold because of the pandemic? How has that affected the band? (could be personally, financially, morale wise, etc.)

Romeo: Yes… We had 2 tours cancelled this year. Our 3rd european tour, and our 1st US tour. It was hard for all of us. All this work of preparation, planning everything months before and everything cancelled within a few weeks… But, we always try to react quickly in order to be as creative as possible. But of course, it’s been a disaster to live this as a band…

How have you been spending your newfound “downtime” while the world has been essentially shut down?

Romeo: I’ve been in lockdown with Vince. We’ve been working everyday in our recording studio. We made a music video ourselves with a new single I composed during the quarantine called “Escape.” We worked a lot, really. Also, we’ve been prospecting new media, radios etc… to be able to spread our music as much as possible in a lockdown world.”

Have you picked up any new hobbies while quarantining that you’d like to share?

Romeo: I couldn’t say that we picked new hobbies. But I took time to work on my other hobbies. Such as writing a book, trying to build concepts for possible start-up companies with friends etc…

Have you worked on any new releases during this time? Any that are already out or that we can get a sneak peak of?

Romeo: Yes we did! We released 2 new singles. “Escape” & “Hope”

If already out- what was the inspiration for the release? Have you written any songs specifically about the state of the world right now?

Romeo: For “Escape”, the song was created during the quarantine, in the middle of the night. We wanted to express through music and this (homemade) video the struggle we’ve been all living these days. For some people, it is a physical struggle, the fact of being locked up in small spaces.

For others, it’s a psychological fight. We all need to escape a bit of reality from time to time. Especially when daily life is getting complicated. This song reflects what we felt during this period. For “Hope”, it wasn’t a song created during the quarantine, but the message sent through the lyrics was relevant I think in a lockdown world.

How has it been being an artist in a time when you cannot tour? How have you been working to promote your music and expand your reach?

Romeo: We’ve been working like crazy to prospect. Contact by emailing new people in the industry to share our music. Try to get in touch as much as possible with radios… So our music could be airplayed. With “Escape” for example, we’ve been prospecting and been airplayed in 35 countries & +250 radios around the world.

Do you have any words of advice for fans that are feeling particularly bummed out about the live music world coming to a halt?

Romeo: Yes of course. First of all, we miss them a lot. But at one point, we will meet them again on the road, and we will survive it all together.

When the world returns to a safer spot and we are able to (hopefully) attend live shows again- say in 2021- what do you hope to achieve?

Romeo: We have already booked shows in Germany and Spain for now (next spring). But I just hope for now that we will be able to reschedule our tours in Europe and US so all our work done before would be useful.

Is there anything you wish your fans would know about you or about the current state of the music world?

Romeo: Maybe that we won’t give up. Never. In hard times we stick together and we move forward. So, let’s all be patient and wait for better days, they will come.
