Selfish Things are back.

After announcing their breakup last year amid the height of the COVID pandemic, the Canadian rockers took to social media to share that they would be discounting all merchandise and officially taking a step back from making music. Not long after came the deletion of all of their social media pages- leaving fans with nothing but their music to be remembered by. But then, as of August 26th this year, it seems that they have had a change of heart.

First posting a cryptic message reading “One more song.” on Facebook and then disappearing for three weeks- Selfish Things gave fans a glimmer of hope that more new music could be coming soon, though the subsequent silence had us doubting if the post ever existed or if we were simply imagining it.

But then, this past Friday the band reemerged, sharing a simple yet ominous message: “The storm is coming.” Only to then wait two more days before tonight, where they shared what appears to be the title of a new single and the anticipated release date.

In a post shared to both Instagram and Facebook, the band posted a throwback photo of one of their past tours captioned “NEWMAN. NOV. 4th, 2021.”

Then, on Instagram, the band also shared a few tour photos and what we can only assume to be lyrics to the upcoming track that read:

“We are tone deaf. We are dumb. We are mindless. We are numb. We are searching. We are sore. We are godless. We are poor.”

And though there is no official word as to if this is just a one off release or the announcement of the band’s reunion and potentially more music down the line, we definitely cannot wait to find out.

We just have to wait 46 more days.
