“It’s not you, it’s me” is one of the most commonly used phrases when it comes to parting ways in a relationship that is going nowhere. But today, singer/songwriter Sierra Blax is here to give the phrase a revamped meaning with her new single “INYIM.”
An R&B inspired track with a groovy bass line (provided by Orlando Thompson) and accompaniment by a jazzy piano (played by D), “INYIM” gives you the feeling of being out at an upscale bar and pensively drinking your night away.
Documenting Blax’s experience of dating in LA and the general concept of trying to date when you aren’t really sure what you want in life or a partner, “INYIM” is somewhat of an ode to self sabotaging your romantic life.
Sharing the worst habits Blax has when it comes to dating, including breaking the hearts of people she’s seeing and letting her insecurities take over, the song repeats “it’s not you, it’s me” as a way of saying “I’ve been like this my whole life, it’s not because of you and it won’t change because of you” – something that is relatable for anyone who has experienced similar ups and downs or dating in general.
You can stream the new single now, wherever you stream music, and be sure to check out Sierra Blax on social media to stay up to date on all things upcoming music.
