Sleeping With Sirens have made their return to Massachusetts.
The four piece band joined Point North, Belmont, and Set It Off at Worcester’s Palladium this past Saturday as part of their 21-stop Medicine Tour.
And while temperatures outside dropped within degrees of freezing, inside the venue Point North helped kick things off for the evening, helping the nearly two thousand fans get warmed up.
Kicking their set off with their tracks “Never Coming Home,” and “HEARTBEAT” Point North immediately got the audience off their feet and swaying side to side with the music. And while it was clear that this was the first time many of the audience members had ever seen or heard of Point North, that didn’t stop anyone from getting involved in their set.
With high energy levels and large stage presence, the three piece band from Los Angeles proved that they belonged on that stage as much as any other band on the lineup.
And as if Point North alone weren’t impressing the crowd enough, the band also brought out special guest Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens to treat fans with a special performance of their collaboration ‘Into The Dark” before finishing their set on their most popular song “Gasoline.”
Following Point North was Belmont, a Chicago based pop-punk band.
Though their set got off to a rocky start with nearly fifteen minutes of track errors causing them to cut a few songs from their setlist, the five piece band eventually took the stage and were met by hundreds of screaming fans- picking up as though they hadn’t missed a beat.
Opening up with their songs “By My Side” and “Hollowed Out,” the band immediately got fans moshing on the dance floor.
With dozens of crowd surfers taking flight over the pit and hundreds of fans screaming their lyrics back at them, Belmont’s time on stage-however short- was full of energy that helped keep the venue buzzing through their final tracks and and into the time before the remaining two acts.
And while fans had been hype the entire night so far no act got the crowd as hype as Set It Off.
Taking the stage for the first time as an opening act following a four part “Midnight” World Tour, Set It Off were welcomed back to Massachusetts with open arms.
Starting with their songs “Lonely Dance” and “N.M.E.” Set It Off took the stage with an energy and level of excitement that was unmatched by the previous performances.
With nearly the entire venue screaming their lyrics back at them, starting “circle pits” and dancing their hearts out, it was clear from the beginning of their set that Set It Off was going to give headliners Sleeping With Sirens a run of their money when it came to most excited fan base.
And while it would have been easy for Set It Off to just stand on stage and play their instruments with little to no crowd involvement, especially after spending nearly an entire year on the road, three band members made sure to match their fan’s excitement- with frontman Cody Carson even making his way into the crowd while singing “Killer In The Mirror” to crowdsurf before performing their newer track “Catch Me If You Can.”
Ending with their newly appointed closing track “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing,” the band also took a few seconds to thank the crowd for staying so enthusiastic throughout their set.
“Massachusetts…you put on the best shows ever,” Carson told the crowd. “You are a force to be reckoned with. Thank you!”
Then, after a much needed intermission for the audience to catch their breath- Sleeping With Sirens took the stage.
Opening on their latest album’s lead track “Leave It All Behind,” the four piece band took the stage with a bang as thousands of audience members rushed their way towards the stage in order to open the largest mosh pit of the night.
And while the first three tracks, including “Never Enough,” and “Tally It Up, Settle The Score,” pumped up the crowd, the band took a moment to talk about the importance of mental health care before performing their song “Better Off Dead.”
“This next song is about struggling and feeling alone. I want you to look to the people around you and remember you are not alone. If you see someone here alone tonight befriend them,” Quinn shared.
Picking things back up the band then played a mix of songs off of their newest album “How It Feels To Be Lost” and older tracks, such as “Do It Now Remember It Later,” and “If I’m James Dream, You’re Audrey Hepburn.”
The band also took a mini acoustic break to perform their song “Scene Five: With Ears to See and Eyes To Hear,” along with their infamous cover of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
Other tracks performed included “Bloodlines,” “Medicine (Devil In My Head)” and “Break Me Down,” all of which had the crowd scream-singing along despite being newer tracks.
Ending the night with an encore of two of their biggest hits- “Kick Me” and “If You Can’t Hang”- the band took their final bows before saying goodbye to the Bay State.
You can catch the remaining four dates of the tour now as they stop in Albany today and end Grand Rapids on Saturday.
