Sunsleep received a bit of help when coming up with their new single “White Tiger.”
In a partnership with children’s charity Sing Me A Story, the Texas based alt-rockers helped turn a child’s story into a full song and accompanying music video, which they debuted this Tuesday.
In this case, the story of “White Tiger” was written by a terminally ill young girl who saw a white tiger regularly in her dreams.
Using her story as the inspiration for the lyrical content, Sunsleep then took the tale of the white tiger and turned it into an alt-pop song about overcoming struggles and showcasing your strength.
“In Japanese culture the White Tiger symbolizes strength, spiritual awakening, and prosperity amidst war and trial. Much like the terminally ill child the tiger for her was a symbol of strength while her own body was at war with itself and gave her peace,” vocalist Devin Barrus shared.
“We wanted our visual to accommodate this symbolism while also fitting the aesthetic and color schemes of the cover art. Something majestic and fitting to the sonic overall “vibe” of the song, simplistic yet captivating.”
