The Black Seeds are bringing some island sun to a dreary New England afternoon.
Released this past Friday, “Raised With Love” is the Australian reggae band’s first new single in three years, and has us feeling full of nostalgia, happiness, and overall love.
Using their classic relaxed island soundscape and smooth reggae rhythms,
“Raised With Loves” transports listeners from their living rooms straight onto a sunny beach where troubles no longer exist.
Inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and a longing for better days, the new song was recorded during Australia’s lockdown after frontman Barnaby Weir revisited some old family photos and was taken down memory lane.
“I was feeling especially grateful for how I was raised with lots of love and music in the house,” Weir shared. “‘Raised With Love’ is a thank you to all the parents out there doing their best to make life a thing of beauty for their children.”
And with smooth light instrumentals and verses such as “just to survive is success,” and “I don’t want to live to fight / I want to fight to live,” the track inspires listeners to look for and hold onto the positive moments in life. This year may be difficult, but that doesn’t mean the future can’t get better.
