If Arizona based emo band The Maine are known for anything it is their connection to their fans.

Everywhere you go, you read or hear stories about the band members taking time out of their days to check on their fans, meet them for free, an make sure that everyone at their show is happy and safe.

However, the band is currently facing backlash after their upcoming tour and tour support leaked on the internet.

Earlier this week fans everywhere received emails from BandsinTown, announcing that The Maine would be returning to various US cities following the completion of Sad Summer Tour for their official “You Are Okay” Tour.

While this news excited many, the inclusion of The Wrecks as the band’s opener sparked controversy.

Tuesday afternoon fans began to take to social media to share their discomfort with The Wrecks, especially frontman Nick Anderson.

The controversy began after a video of Anderson was leaked in which he jokes about abortion and miscarriage to a female fan who he falsely identifies as pregnant.

Fans also shared stories of the band members doing Nazi salutes and cracking racist jokes.

Though Anderson did not confirm or deny any comments, he did make a brief statement saying he carries “remorse every day.”

Some fans of Anderson and his band have reached out in support, sharing that they feel he has “made mistakes,” but deserves to be given a chance to learn from them and grow.
