Thirteen years ago today, Bruno Mars was photographed being astonished by Pete Wentz. A now viral image that resurfaces every April 29th and will go down in history as one of the best photographs in emo history.
And today, on this special 13th anniversary where this image officially reaches it’s teenage years, fellow emo legends The Maine have decided to pay homage to Mr. Wentz in the best way they knew how: a cover of Fall Out Boy’s iconic hit “THNKS FR TH MMRS.”
Slowing the originally high energy track down to match The Maine’s more easygoing sound, the cover track strips back the main instrumentals of the original to create an emotional acoustic rendition.
And though the original recording is one of the most iconic pop punk meets emo anthems of our time, this cover gives fans a glimpse into what Fall Out Boy may have sounded like if they were a soft spoken wedding band.
You can check out the cover for yourself now, wherever you stream music, and be sure to drop a comment below letting us know which version you prefer.
