As a Boston based publication, we are always thrilled to see fellow Massachusetts natives make their way into our inboxes. Especially when they are musicians, and when they are as talented as Salem based rock band, Valleyheart- who have just released their new single “T.I.K.”
An abbreviation for “Thoughts I Keep,” “T.I.K.” is a look into the darker side of the human psyche, and more specifically, the mind of frontman and vocalist Kevin Klein.
A verbal and musical battle between emotions and thoughts, “T.I.K” takes listeners on a journey of existential dread and the desire to pack it all up and start fresh somewhere new. Going back and forth between acknowledging that running away won’t solve any of your issues, but also allowing yourself to get stuck in repetitive toxic cycles, the song is an honest deep dive into mental health and the idea of feeling trapped.
And with heavier, dark guitar tones accompanying the emotion driven lyrics, “T.I.K.” signals a new era of Valleyheart, marking their first release since 2019.
“I wanted those tensions and weight [of mind vs emotions] paralleled in the instrumentation; hence this probably being the heaviest and hard-hitting track [to date],” Klein shared.
You can listen to and view the video for “T.I.K.” above now, and be sure to stream it once it hits digital platforms on Friday.
