The Vitamin String Quartet are not letting the pandemic stop them from creating beautiful works of art, and this past week has been plentiful with two new music videos to help give fans a deeper musical experience.

First releasing their fun at-home video for their cover of Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” earlier this week and now closing out the week with a video to accompany their 2016 cover of “Motion Picture Soundtrack” the group are keeping the music and live performance art alive.

Featuring orchestra members Tom Lea (viola), Amanda Lo (Violin), Earl Maneein (Violin) and Derek Stein (Cello), the new video for “Motion Picture Soundtrack” showcases clips of each performer playing solo, intercut to give the feeling that while they may be physically in different locations, they are together in sound and spirit.

“As our director, Tom Bird, describes it, ‘We wanted to create a video that reflected the isolation of each musician while depicting their creation of music as a reaction to their solitude,’” executive producer James Curtiss shares. “Shooting them individually with the barest of skeleton crews, while Covid seemed to be in a bit of a lull, the aim was to connect them together in an emotional landscape of reflective sounds, a visual testament to something we can all relate during this time — in solitude yet reaching out to be together.”

As a piece of music, it’s been one of our most successful and longest enduring releases. Even before the hype that came with Westworld, it was a staple of live sets and passionately requested by fans as sheet music they could own. It’s a wonder it took us until right now to make a video. But… right now seemed to be the perfect time to make it like this.”

Originally covered in 2003 on their album VSQ Performs Radiohead: Enigmatic and then again in 2016 on the soundtrack for Westworld, the quartet strip down “Motion Picture Soundtrack” staying true to the original tone of the song while adding a personal and orchestral flair.

You can stream the single now, and be sure to check out the new video as well as the video for “Girls Like You,” out now.
