Following the success of their July event, Wake Up Brookline! are back with another Black Calling.
A play on the infamous Boston Calling, Black Calling II will be a celebration of local Black artists, businesses, and vendors held this Saturday, August 22nd.
Taking place in Cassidy Park (Cleveland Circle) from 4-7pm, Black Calling II will feature performances from Kofi, Stefan, Dienue, Bihomora, Iamtrevo, Cat Ashley, Cadet, Kayla Montero, and Diz- just to name a few.
In addition to the live music, the event will also have tables set up for local vendors and artists, helping to promote Black businesses and allowing attendees to shop locally.
The event is free to the public, but concert goers are strongly encouraged to bring their wallets so that they can help support local creators.
Wake Up Brookline! was formed earlier this year by a group of activists who wanted to organize against police brutality and racism following the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
The group, who have hosted several protests in the Brookline and Brighton area, describe themselves as people “committed to educating, encouraging, and transforming a town that veils itself in a false sense of diversity.” Adding that they are “for the people, by the people. PRO BLACK!”
