Chappell Roan’s iconic Grammy speech may have only happened just over a week ago, but her impact is already reaching the tens of thousands.
Joining forces with Backline, a charity that focuses on providing members of the music industry with mental and physical healthcare, Roan has helped launch a new fundraising campaign titled We Got You!
Taking its name from Roan’s speech which ended with the viral question “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?” the We Got You! campaign officially launched this past Monday and has already garnered over 90 donations, many of which came from Roan’s peers, including Noah Kahan, Charli XCX, Lauv and Sabrina Carpenter- each of whom donated a whopping $25,000, matching Roan’s starting amount.
And these major artists aren’t the only big names making donations. Additional large sums came from concert promoters Live Nation and AEG Presents, along with several artist management teams, agents, festival organizers and record labels such as Wasserman, Guy Oseary and Sumerian Records.
Several small artists and fans also donated to the campaign, sharing how Chappell Roan inspired them to do their part in making a change.
“The We Got You campaign is a powerful step in prioritizing mental health and well-being of those who make the music we all love,” Backline community manager Terra Lopez shared at the launch of the fundraiser. “Thank you to Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, and Noah Kahan for your advocacy and action to create a more supportive industry – together, we are showing artists they are seen, heard, and cared for.”
