Australian pop punk band With Confidence surprised fans late this afternoon with a re-release of their track “Pâquerette (Without Me).”
Released in 2018 off of the band’s sophomore album “Love and Loathing,” the original version of “Pâquerette” is an acoustic ballad, with just soft guitar strumming and a light drum beat behind the vocals.
While the song was not released as a single, it quickly found its way into many of With Con’s fan’s hearts, and it’s main lyric “I hope you’re better off without me” ended up being featured on the band’s winter tour merchandise.
And, just when fan’s thought the song couldn’t get better- the band revamped it AND dropped a music video for the new version, aptly titled “Without Me (Pâquerette).”
“On November 13th, 2018, we invited 100 of our top listeners on Spotify to a secret show in Los Angeles,” the video begins.
“We wanted to make it special, so we decided to play a new song.”
The song being the new, full band version of their 2018 track- full of electric guitars and upbeat percussion.
And fans are loving it.
While going from acoustic to “fully plugged,” is the opposite way most bands release tracks, With Confidence are not the first band to do so.
In 2016, British punk rockers Neck Deep re-released their somber track “December” as a full rock song featuring Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus.
Perhaps With Con’s next track will also feature another famous pop punk voice? Maybe Cody Carson from Set It Off since they’ll be touring together all next month?
We can only hope!
Let us know what you think of the revamped “Without Me (Pâquerette)” and be sure to check out With Confidence (and Set It Off) on the Midnight Tour- hitting a venue near you next month.
