After releasing his dreamy indie pop single “Fade Away” at the top of last month, indie artist Yoke Lore has just debuted the track’s new music video, and it is one you will not soon forget.
Edited and directed by animator Aishwarya Sadasivan, with help from Jane Winters, Nikita Biswas, Terra Preston, the music video showcases a young boy going through life, which is paralleled by a cheetah experiencing similar things while living in the wild.
At various points the boy and cheetah’s lives intertwine, giving viewers a closer look at how we are all animals at our core and share more similarities with each other, and with wildlife, than we may acknowledge.
“[The] video is about two characters who are forced to figure out whether their differences outweigh their similarities,” Yoke Lore shares. “A boy and a cheetah are put in a situation where they can either identify with one another and conquer a common enemy together, or have their differences divide them and force them into a dangerous conflict.”
“I think it is a situation a lot of us are faced with every day. I believe it’s an interaction worth considering and worth dramatizing. It tells the story of ‘Fade Away’ on a macrocosmic scale.”
The solo project of Adrian Galvin (formerly of Walk the Moon and Yellerkin) Yoke Lore formed in 2016 with the release of their first EP Far Shore.
Since stepping out on his own, Yoke Lore has five subsequent EPs, in addition to several singles, most recently “Fade Away” and a collaboration with Jax Anderson titled “Sensitive Heart.”
And while Lore is unable to tour with new music this year, he will be giving fans the full live music experience with the re-streaming of his live stream concert featuring his friends Emily Afton on piano and Kristin Lloyd on harp. Tickets are available now, here, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hurston/Wright Foundation to raise money for Black writers.
You can check out all of Yoke Lore’s music ahead of the concert now, via the Spotify link below, and be sure to stream “Fade Away,” out now.
