Young Culture are truly coming into their own.
After making waves in the pop punk community over the past few years and releasing catchy track after catchy track, the New York based trio are continuing to grab the attention of music lovers of all backgrounds as they prepare to make 2021 the year of Young Culture. Specifically with the release of their upcoming new EP, Godspeed and their new single, “Simplemindedteens.”
The third single to be released off of Godspeed (out July 30th) “Simplemindedteens” is a nostalgic anthem that leaves you lost in your own feelings as you reminisce on your teenage years.
With lyrical callbacks to previous Young Culture songs, specifically “Hailey Beverley 2016” from the band’s 2020 self titled album, “Simplemindedteens” has an air of familiarity that makes it an instant comfort track while also giving Young Culture fans some fresh new music to absorb.
Truly leaning into the bands semi-90s boyband meets alternative rock inspired lyrics and sonic profile, this song is a perfect summer anthem for long drives with the windows down and sunglasses on- a Young Culture specialty.
And though this may not be in the same vein as the up tempo rock anthems that the band first became known for, this new era feels true to their style and a breath of fresh air for a year when that is what we all truly need.
You can stream “Simplemindedteens,” along with fellow Godspeed singles “Hum” and “Godspeed,” out now wherever you stream music.
