Yours Truly are just over two weeks away from the release of their debut album “Self Care,” and are yet again treating fans to another sneak peak of the album with their new single “Funeral Home.”
An upbeat pop-punk track, “Funeral Home” calls attention to one of the worst and unavoidable parts of growing up: seeing your friends pass away.
Telling the story of running into certain friends every year at funerals and subsequently pondering the meaning of life and the short amount of time we spend on Earth, “Funeral Home” is one of the band’s most existential tracks to date.
In theme with previous releases from their upcoming album, such as “Composure,” and “Undersize,” “Funeral Home” is a fun and energetic track with a darker undertone to its lyrics. It forces listeners to both want to get up and dance in a pit, while also encouraging them to think about their own lives and how little time we spend staying connected as we grow older.
“Hey, I’ll see you at another wake / And we’ll just call it life / We can’t get it back / Now we’re dancing around in our funeral home.”
A social commentary of sorts, “Funeral Home” is a track that will hit you in the gut after just one listen but also make you want to come back for more- something Yours Truly has proven to be experts at doing over the past few releases.
You can stream “Funeral Home,” along with previously released singles “Together,” “Undersize,” and “Composure,” out now. And be sure to stay tuned for the release of their full album “Self Care,” out September 18th.
