The world can’t seem to get enough of Ariana Grande.

Less than 6 months after her fourth studio album “Sweetener” dropped on August 17th, 2018, Grande has released another full length album.

At midnight, February 8th, Grande’s fifth studio album titled “Thank U, Next” after it’s lead single, went live.

After the media frenzy surrounding Grande’s personal life and recent Grammys drama, it’s no surprise that fans were more than excited for the new record.

And, it seems that the album lived up to many expectations, having reached #1 on the iTunes chart after only 5 minutes.

Prior to the full album’s release, title track “Thank U, Next” caused mass hysteria with fans everywhere after the music video and song dropped not only names and details about all of Grande’s exes in the opening verse, but also became one of the winter’s most popular self love anthems with lyrics about dating yourself and growing from heartbreak. Plus, the music video featured Grande and friends reenacting the most popular of late 90s/early 2000s movies.

The album’s second single, “7 Rings,” also made headlines as Grande faced backlash for the song’s rhythm and lyrics.

Rappers Princess Nokia, 2 Chainz, and Soulja Boy all accused Grande of ripping off various parts of their songs, “Mine,” “Spend It” and “Pretty Boy Swag,” as described in the video below.

But, regardless of the controversy, which has seemingly faded away as Princess Nokia and Soulja Boy have dismissed their claims and 2 Chainz was featured on Ari’s remix, “7 Rings” hit the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 just a little over a week after it’s release.

Now, with the new full record, fans and listeners everywhere are wondering why the pop star chose to release two full length albums so close together.

Perhaps it is to show the other side of Grande, as a contrast to “Sweetener”’s up beat, happy vibes.

Or maybe Grande just wanted to put out more music before her Sweetener World Tour, which is starting in just a few weeks, mid-March.

In addition to the album, Grande also released the music video for “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” which was perhaps one of the most anticipated tracks on the album due to much speculation around who the track could be about.

While the video does not blatantly reveal who the song was written about, unlike “Thank, U Next,” it is also full of star power and intrigue.

Starring Grande opposite Riverdale’s Charles Melton, the music video shows Grande potentially trying to win over Melton by becoming more and more like his girlfriend- in both looks and behaviors. While she does not appear to actually be “winning” over anyone, the video ends with the pop star going in to kiss Melton, but instead reaching for his girlfriends face before it cuts to black.

So far, fans seem to be very happy with the new song and video.

It has also started new fan theories about the songs meaning.
