The Sinclair theater in Cambridge is getting a new neighbor.

Announced earlier this week, the popular venue located at 52 Church Street announced that they would be sharing their lot with the new Cambridge community fridge- fondly referred to as the Fridge in the Square.

Described as “a mutual aid initiative,” the community fridge project provides free food to those in need through donations and volunteer efforts. Stocked with fresh produce, frozen goods and other essential food items, the fridge is accompanied by a weather proof cabinet where people can drop off or pick up non-perishable items- including boxed goods, cleaning supplies and menstrual products.

And though the project is launching in the midst of a pandemic, causing some safety concerns, the community organizers have shared that the fridge and surrounding areas will be sanitized regularly.
