It’s a sad day for fans of Chicago pop-punk band Real Friends.

After a few months of speculation following a clearing out of their merch site, deletion of social media posts, and radio silence from the band regarding their future, singer Dan Lambton took to social media today to announce that he is officially no longer a part of Real Friends.

In an emotional post shared to the singer’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, Lambton shared that he was unsure of his future in regards to music, but wanted fans to know that he has greatly appreciated their support over the years.

“Moving forward, I will continue to write music with rationale., livestream on twitch, and, at the moment, it is unclear wether or not I will be able to pursue music in a full-time capacity,” Lambton shared.

“Either way, I am grateful to have experienced all of the opportunities presented to us as Real Friends.”

The band’s remaining members, Eric Haines, Kyle Fasel, David Knox, and Brian Blake then also shared their own statement, saying that the split was “mutual.”

“This is not the end of Real Friends. We have simply turned the page to the next chapter. Thank you for all of your love and support.”
