NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series is looking a little different these days.

With the Covid-19 pandemic still ongoing and safety precautions in place, the NPR team have given artists the ability to live stream their normal in-office sets from the comfort of their own homes- giving fans a glimpse into their lives outside of the studio and adding a personal touch to an already intimate performance.

And for the latest edition of NPR’s renowned series, pop star Demi Lovato gave listener’s an emotional three track performance that showcased her new look, new sound and new lease on life.

Opening the set with her 2017 single “Tell Me You Love Me,” Lovato was joined by pianist Steven Rodriguez who helped the singer strip back some of the instrumentals rework her songs into more acoustic style ballads.

Giving fans a bit of info about her thought process and how she is doing amidst the current state of the world, Lovato paused after the first track to share how excited she was for it to finally be spring.

“I’m really happy to be out in the bright, sunny, California sun,” she shared before adding that she had recently made some squirrel friends- which she has previously shown her Instagram followers.

“My squirrels are out here. You can’t see but I have now taught them how to eat from my hand, and that’s a big accomplishment. So I just wanted to let you know that is what was on my mind.”

Lovato then performed her recent singles “Dancing With The Devil” and “The Art of Starting Over,” both title tracks from her new album Dancing With The Devil… The Art of Starting Over.
