There is nothing quite like a sad song, and Helen Maw may have just released our favorite one of the year.

A beautiful symphony lead by Maw on piano with several string instruments playing accompaniment, “Playing With Fire” is the latest single by Liverpool based singer/songwriter Helen Maw.

Released this past Saturday, “Playing With Fire” is a re-vamped version of the singer’s original track, which was released on her EP “Everything in Between” earlier this year. Featuring added vocals, additional strings, and gut-wrenching lyrics, the re-vamped version sends listeners on an emotional rollercoaster from the first note to the last chord.

As for what the track is about- the song tells the story of a heartbreak that left the singer doubting herself. “Playing With Fire” is all about coming to terms with negative relationships and realizing that the thoughts of your past partners do not define you.

“The track is a story of having your heart broken but coming to the realization that you are not defined by other people and they way they mistreat you,” Maw shared. “This song is one of the most personal songs I have written and I believe that this comes through in the music.”

And while the track’s orchestral backing is immensely impressive, the real draw is Maw’s beautiful vocals, which are both haunting and angelic in a way unmatched by any other release this past week.

We cannot wait to hear more from her in the future.
