Idle Wave are back with a brand new song- and we think it’s their best one yet.

“Wolves,” which dropped at midnight, is the latest single by the New Jersey Natives, and is the second single to be released this year, following “Home” back in February.

Inspired by the reality of growing up and witnessing those close to you change as they fall victim to their surroundings, “Wolves” questions whether these changes are inevitable or preventable on your way towards your goals.

“Wolves is about losing people to corruption: A ghost tempting you with the same evils they possess; worrying that you’ll fall into their footsteps if you don’t escape the cycle,” frontman Guy Battaglia shared. “[It asks] Are we destined to corruption by the same evil that we fall victim to?”

Sonically, the track is as great as it is lyrically.

Starting off with a catchy drum beat before an acoustic guitar kicks in for accompaniment, the song gradually builds up to a full pop-rock track once the chorus hits. It’s catchy, and a track that is easy to dance to- two of the best features of any summer release.

In addition to the single’s debut, the band also released a brand new music video, staring Battaglia as he navigates a party where he is surrounded by the “wolves” who inspired the track.

You can watch the video above and listen to “Wolves,” now, wherever you stream music. And, if you like what you hear, be sure to check out our full interview with Battaglia where he discusses the track’s history, plans for 2021 and more, linked here.
