Jeremy Drury is taking a step out on his own.

Best known for his work as percussionist in famed rock band The Strumbellas, Drury is a multi instrumentalist and vocalist who has recently set out to create his first ever solo album. And today, after a long time in the making, “Company Store” has officially made its debut.

A ten track album that features previously released singles “Do It Right,” “Pour Another,” “Tadoussac,” and “Awake,” “Company Store” is full of a variety of sounds, mixing genres from American to folk to classic rock. Undefinable by classic genre standards, Drury uses this debut to not only show off his ability to go it alone, but also to prove his songwriting abilities cannot be boxed in or defined by any one label.

And if the main singles didn’t prove Drury’s abilities on their own, the album’s other tracks showcase his range further, with the folk-y “A Hundred Times,” acoustic “Someday,” blues-y folk tinged “Open Road,” and rock inspired “Last Breath,” and “We Live On.”

While the album’s debut is special in it’s own right, being fans’ first taste of the artist’s solo creations, Drury also announced the use of his release to raise awareness to current social and political issues running rampant throughout his home country of Canada.

“I’m pledging 100% of all sales and streaming proceeds generated by my new album, “Company Store”, for a month following its Aug. 28th, 2020 release,” Drury shared via his website. “[Profits will go] to the following organizations: MusiCounts, Nia Centre for the Arts, The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund and Canadian Music Therapy Fund.”

“While my music doesn’t specifically focus on injustices, raising awareness or providing political commentary, I can use it to effect a positive change in my own small ways,” he added.

You can stream and purchase “Company Store,” now via Bandcamp or Drury’s website, and read more about his mission to effect change via his Donation Statement.
