Mae Krell has released their second single of the year and it is an emotional one.

“home,” which dropped earlier this morning, is a piano and guitar driven ballad that discusses the change in mindset after a moment of revelation. In Krell’s case, that revelation was the realization that life is worth living, despite how scary it can get.

““home” was written in a transitional part of my life. I had just moved back to NYC after being away for a year to work on myself and sort out some issues, and everything felt really different,” Krell shared. “I had been away from home in the past, but coming back this time felt really cathartic.”

“In the weeks after moving, I started to develop all these new fears and anxieties that I had never experienced before. One night I was walking- and the streets were dark and not many people were around when I realized that all of these new fears came from actually wanting to be alive for once and worrying for my safety. It was a totally new experience for me. I stopped walking and just typed “wanting to live makes everything so scary” into my phone notes. When I got home that night, I sat down and wrote the rest of the song.”

In addition to the release of the new song, Krell also dropped a music video, which was filmed by Krell and Caro Hallock, documenting some of Krell’s everyday life- including their very cute pup, Apollo.
