If there is one thing most people would wish for this year, it would be to be taken far, far away and to live in a time of peace and widespread health. Some may even say they wish to be taken “Out of Here,” and luckily for them (and all emo music fans) Mayday Parade have just released a new EP that will help you feel a little bit of that so desired peace.
A three track release that features the previously released “Lighten Up Kid” in addition to “First Train,” and “I Can Only Hope,” Out of Here is a ten and a half minute compilation of songs dedicated to making you feel a bit of hope in this year of uncertainty and hurt.
With the first track “First Train” longing for an escape while also reminding fans to hold on for another day and leave the past behind them, the band urge listeners to fight their negative thoughts and mindset in order to think about a better future- a better tomorrow.
“Lighten Up Kid” then adds a bit of angst to the release, with the repeated line “I can’t wait to say I told you so,” reminding listeners that with a bit of dedication and hard work they can prove their haters wrong- despite what anyone else thinks. You just have to hold on a little bit longer.
Closing out the EP on “I Can Only Hope,” the band begins to beg for a bit of happiness and share their wishes of hope- echoing the sentiment that they won’t “let it go,” until all of their concerns are resolved.
And while this EP is short and sweet, it doesn’t lack any of the standard Mayday emotions or feeling. In fact, in classic Mayday Parade fashion, each track tugs at your heartstrings and has you ready to relive your early 2000s emo phase the second the first chorus comes in.
